Kabul - October 29, 2025: Ibrahim Zadran (52) scored a half-century before Mujeeb Ur Rahman (4/20), Azmatullah Omarzai (3/29) and Abdullah Ahmadzai (2/20) stole the show with the ball to help Afghanistan beat Zimbabwe by 53 runs and go 1-0 up in the three-match T20I series.
Earlier in the evening,
Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan decided to bat first, and the openers, making
full use of the power play, put 76 runs together to give Afghanistan an
excellent start in the game. Ibrahim Zadran (52), Rahmanullah Gurbaz (39),
Azmatullah Omarzai (27), Sedqiullah Atal (25) and Shahidullah Kamal (22*)
chipped in with crucial runs to push Afghanistan post 180/6 runs on the board
in the first inning.
In defense, Mujeeb Ur Rahman
(4/20) bowled two double-wicket overs and was well supported by Azmatullah
Omarzai (3/29) and Abdullah Ahmadzai (2/20), as they together bundled out the
home side for 127 to win the first T20I by 53 runs.
Azmatullah Omarzai 27 (21) &
3/29 was awarded the Player of the Match for his terrific all-round
performance.
Both teams will meet in the second match of the series on Friday, October 31, at the same venue, the Harare Sports Club.
