Biography
Dr. Ahmad Khalid Hatam, a board member of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, was born on December 9, 1982, in Kunar Province, Afghanistan. He grew up in a wealthy family and earned a B.A. LL.B (Hons) in Shariah & Law, an LL.M in International Law, and a Ph.D. in Islamic Law and Jurisprudence from the International Islamic University in Islamabad. Throughout his career, he has provided a wide range of professional and advisory services to multinational organizations, financial and banking institutions, and government entities.
Dr. Hatam has worked extensively on issues related to Commercial Law, Tax Law, Labor Law, Banking Law, Islamic Banking Law, and Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms, including Arbitration and Mediation Law, as well as the Law of Negotiable Instruments and Property Law. He has served as a Senior Consultant (Legal) at the Central Public-Private Partnership Authority of the Afghan Ministry of Finance and has acted as a Trainer Arbitrator at the Afghanistan Center for Dispute Resolution (ACDR).
Currently, he is the Chancellor of Kardan University and is involved with the International Chamber of Commerce - Afghanistan (ICC Afghanistan) as a member. He is also a Shariah Board Member of the Islamic Bank of Afghanistan (formerly Bakhtar Bank) and a consultant for various national and international organizations. Additionally, he has experience as a lecturer and assistant professor at the International Islamic University in Islamabad, where he also worked at the research wing, the Islamic Research Institute.
Previously, Dr. Hatam held several significant positions, including Senior Associate at RIAA Barker Gillette AFG, Deputy Director at the Afghanistan Humanitarian Organization for Development (AHOD), Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Kardan University in Kabul, and Assistant Professor of Law at multiple universities.
As a board member of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, Dr. Hatam aims to promote the game of cricket in Afghanistan while ensuring it remains free from political interference. He believes that cricket has united the nation and that increasing its popularity and accessibility at the grassroots level will further foster national unity.
