Biography

Ahmad Shah Sulimankhil, the Chief Selector of the Afghanistan Cricket Board

Ahmad Shah Sulimankhil is a former national player for Afghanistan and the current Chief Selector of the Afghanistan Cricket Board. He was born on March 10, 1982, in Paktika Province. Throughout his international career, he was known for batting left-handed and bowling slow left-arm orthodox.

Shah was part of the Afghanistan National Cricket Team during a period of rapid ascent, as they quickly claimed victories in World Cricket League Division Five, Division Four, and Division Three, which promoted them to Division Two. This success allowed them to participate in the 2009 ICC World Cup Qualifier, where they gained ODI status.

He made his ODI debut against the Netherlands on August 30, 2009, which is his solitary ODI match. Furthermore, he made his first-class debut in Afghanistan's inaugural match in the Intercontinental Cup against a Zimbabwe XI on August 16, 2009, before playing his second and last FC match against the Netherlands two weeks later.

After retiring from international cricket in 2010, Ahmad Shah served the Afghanistan Cricket Board in various roles, including head coach of the Afghanistan U19 team during the 2010 Cricket World Cup in New Zealand. He joined the Selection Committee as a member in 2011 and was promoted to Chief Selector later that same year. In 2012, he took on the role of Domestic Cricket Manager.

Ahmad Shah returned to the Selection Committee in 2016 after a four-year hiatus from cricket. In 2018, he was once again appointed to lead the Domestic Cricket Department for two years, before becoming the Head of the High-Performance Center in 2021. Currently, he serves as the Chief Selector of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, a position he started in early 2024.

With over 15 years of experience working with the Afghanistan Cricket Board, he has been involved in nearly all technical departments. He envisions the ACB as a rapidly growing organization that improves daily and hopes for further enhancements in the future.
