Kabul – Aug 17, 2026: The Afghanistan Cricket Board’s National Selection Committee has finalized the AfghanAbdalyan Squad for the 20th Asian Games, set to take place in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 24 to October 3.
Darwish
Rasooli will captain the squad, which includes several experienced players such
as Najibullah Zadran and Karim Janat. The majority of the team, however,
consists of young talents who featured in the recently concluded 11th edition
of the Shpageeza Cricket League 2026.
Top-order
batsman Mohammad Akram has been rewarded for his outstanding performance in the
SCL XI, where he scored 339 runs in 8 innings, including a hundred and two
fifties. Additionally, all-rounder Ismat Alam, who was named the best player of
the tournament for his impressive tally of 294 runs and 9 wickets, has also
earned a spot in the lineup for the tournament.
