Kabul: January 14, 2026 – The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) today at the ACB headquarters in Kabul. The meeting was chaired by ACB Chairman Mr. Mirwais Ashraf and focused on reviewing the achievements of the past year (2025) and approving strategic plans for the upcoming year (2026).

Attendance:

The meeting was attended in person by ACB Chairman Mr. Mirwais Ashraf, ACB CEO Mr. Naseeb Khan, Board Member and Kardan University Chancellor Dr. Ahmed Khalid Hatim, Board Member and ACCI Head Mr. Khan Jan Alokozay. Board members Mr. Allah Dad Noori, Mr. Obaidullah Saderkhel, Mr. Attila Kamgar, and Mr. Raees Ahmadzai participated virtually via video link.

Performance Review: A Year of Growth

The Chief Executive Office presented a comprehensive report comparing international performances in 2024 and 2025. The data revealed a 5% increase in the national team's winning ratio, rising from 53% in 2024 to 58% in 2025.

A total of 59 international matches were played in 2025 across the Senior National, National A-Team (AfghanAbdalyan), and the Afghanistan U19 National Team levels.

Key Policy Decisions

1:         League Participation Policy: To protect player fitness and mental well-being, the Board approved a new policy regarding foreign leagues. Players will now be permitted to participate in the Afghanistan Premier League (APL), plus only three other international leagues per year. This measure aims to manage workload and ensure peak performance for national duties.

2:         Coaching Presence in Afghanistan: A new mandate requires all international coaching staff to visit Afghanistan when needed. This clause is now included in contracts to ensure that domestic players can benefit from the expertise and experience of elite coaches, thereby fostering local talent development.

3:         Policy Amendments: Amendments to eight administrative policies were approved to enhance organizational efficiency and will be implemented in 2026.

Infrastructure & Development

The Board highlighted significant progress in infrastructure, with 19 projects implemented last year, including 9 academies and work on cricket grounds in Logar and Laghman provinces.

2026 Budget: The Board approved a dedicated budget of $8 million for various construction projects in 2026. The bulk of this budget will be directed toward the construction of the Alokhail Cricket Stadium in Kabul and the Najibullah Tarakai Cricket Stadium in Nangarhar.

Domestic Cricket & Financial Health

The meeting noted the success of the domestic calendar, with four major tournaments broadcast live and all matches played with international-standard Kookaburra balls. The provincial development plan was deemed highly successful, fostering competitive inter-provincial cricket.

Financially, the ACB reported effective cost-saving measures alongside an increase in revenue driven by sponsorships and digital/social media growth.

Conclusion

The Board members commended the ACB leadership for the resumption of the Afghanistan Premier League (APL) and the launch of major infrastructure projects. The meeting concluded with the leadership pledging to implement the approved suggestions and continue the organization's upward trajectory in 2026.
