Kabul – June 11, 2026: AfghanAbdalyan (Afghanistan A) have put on a terrific batting effort to successfully stay ahead of the DLS par score and secure a narrow 4-run victory over the India A, getting to a winning start in the Sri Lanka A Teams’ Tri-Nation Series 2026.
Earlier in the morning,
AfghanAbdalyan won the toss and put India A to bat first. They accepted the
invitation happily and put a magnificent batting performance to finish the
first inning with a mammoth total of 349/9 runs, setting Afghanistan with a
350-run target in 49 overs.
Abdullah Ahmadzai was magnificent
with the ball as he picks up an outstanding five-wicket haul. His 5/68 was
backed up well by Farmanullah Safi (3/85), who also chipped in with three
important scalps to his name.
Rain, which had already
interrupted the first inning of the game and has caused in one over loss, returned
to halt the second inning of the game. After a further delay, it resulted in an
additional loss of 11 overs, and consequently #AfghanAbdalyan were set a
revised target of 294 runs from 38 overs.
AfghanAbdalyan started off
extremely well in their pursuit of the 294-run target, as the openers shared 63
runs for the first wicket. Captain Imran Mir (75*) and Baheer Shah (51*) put on
an unbeaten 108-run partnership, and laid strong foundation for AfghanAbdalyan.
They continued to stay ahead of the DLS par score before rain returned for the
third time and brought the contest to an early end.
With no further play possible,
Afghanistan were declared winners by 4 runs via the DLS method, securing a
winning start to their Tri-Nation Series campaign. Imran Mir (75* and 1/24) was
awarded as Player of the Match.
Following this victory,
AfghanAbdalyan will face Sri Lanka A in their next match on Saturday, June 13,
at the same venue.
