Afghanistan A secured a winning start to their campaign at the 20th Asian Games in Japan after producing an impressive all-round performance to defeat Japan by 48 runs.
Earlier in the morning, Japan won the toss and elected to bowl first.
AfghanAbdalyan posted 129/6 in their first innings, setting Japan a target of
130 runs. Mohammad Akram top-scored with 34 runs, while captain Darwish Rasooli
contributed 29, Mohammad Ishaq remained unbeaten on 25*, and Karim Janat scored
21 runs.
Afghanistan then produced an excellent bowling performance to defend the
target, dismissing Japan for just 81 runs and securing a 48-run victory. Arab
Gul Momand was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets, while Nangyalai Khan
claimed three wickets and Abdullah Ahmadzai took two.
AfghanAbdalyan will return to action tomorrow morning at 9:30 AM in their
second match of the competition, when they take on Nepal.
