Kabul, April 10, 2025: AfghanAbdalyan have put on a terrific all-round performance to beat the Ireland Wolves by an inning and 194 runs in the one-off four-day game, that was held at the Tolerance Oval in Abu Dhabi.

Kabul, April 10, 2025: AfghanAbdalyan have put on a terrific all-round performance to beat the Ireland Wolves by an inning and 194 runs in the one-off four-day game, that was held at the Tolerance Oval in Abu Dhabi.

Earlier on day 1, Afghanistan won the toss and opted to bat first. The batting unit, led by the top three, put on an outstanding batting effort to declare their first inning on a mammoth total of 612/7. Bahir Shah Mahboob scored 187 runs, and was equally supported by Riaz Hassan (95), Imran Mir (85), Shams Ur Rahman (84*), Afsar Zazai (55) and the skipper Darwish Rasooli (53) who all went on to score half-centuries.

In AfghanAbdalyan’s first bowling inning, Zia Ur Rehman Akbar (4/54), Arab Gul Momand (4/71) took four wickets each, whereas Shams Ur Rahman (1/52) returned with one wicket each to help the team bundle the Ireland Wolves out for 309 runs and take a lead of 303 runs in the first inning during the third session on day 3. With only three and a half sessions to go with, AfghanAbdalyan decided to enforce the follow-on and, subsequently, started their 2nd bowling inning.

The bowling unit doubled their effort from the first inning and have put on an even better show in the 2nd inning. Led by Arab Gul Momand’s magnificent bowling figures of (6/25), they restricted the opposition to 109 runs only in their 2nd outing with the bat to win the game by an inning and 194 runs.

Arab Gul Momand (4/71 & 6/25) was named the player of the match for his outstanding bowling performance and a total of 10 wickets in the match.

The action will now shift to the Tri-Nation Series which is all set to begin on Sunday, April 13 at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi, with the Ireland Wolves meeting the Lankan Lions in the opening game of the event.
