Kabul – February 19, 2026: Ibrahim Zadran (95*) scored his career-best inning, whereas Mohammad Nabi (4/7) recorded his career-best figures as they powered Afghanistan to an 82-run victory over Canada to end their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign on a winning note.

Earlier in the evening, AfghanAtalan were put into bat first. The batters stepped up and delivered an outstanding effort with the bat to post 200/4 runs on the board in the first inning. Ibrahim Zadran scored his career best inning of 95* runs off just 56 balls, an inning that included 7 fours and 5 sixes.

His 95* runs are his best innings in T20Is, which is also the highest among the Afghan batters in a T20 World Cup inning. In addition, this marked his 16th 50+ score in T20Is, which is also the most from Afghanistan.

Sediqullah Atal (44), Rahmanullah Gurbaz (30), and Azmatullah Omarzai (13) were other batters who chipped in with some runs and contributed to the team total.

In the second inning, Mohammad Nabi (4/7) recorded his career-best bowling figures to dismantle the Canadian batting order. Rashid Khan (2/19), Azmatullah Omarzai (1/18), and Mujeeb Ur Rahman (1/23) also returned with wickets each.

Ibrahim Zadran was awarded the Player of the Match, who dedicated his PoTM honor to Jonathan Trott, who stood with Afghanistan in the final match of his tenure as head coach.

With this happening, Afghanistan's campaign at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 has come to an end, with two wins and two heartbreaking losses that proved too costly in the run for the Super Eights. However, based on the ICC’s T20I Teams Rankings, Afghanistan has sealed a direct qualification to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2028, which will be played in Australia and New Zealand.
