Kabul, December 16, 2025: The Afghanistan Cricket Board confirms that the Afghanistan National U19 Cricket Team will tour Zimbabwe for a Tri-Nation Youth ODI series, featuring the hosts Zimbabwe U19 and Pakistan U19 Teams as the other two teams. The series is scheduled to be played from December 25, 2025, to January 06, 2026, in Harare, Zimbabwe.

The Tri-Nation Youth ODI series will begin on December 25, with the opening match being held between Zimbabwe U19 and Afghanistan U19. Afghanistan Future Stars will take on Pakistan U19 for their second match in the event on December 27. Each team will play four matches in the double round-robin stage, with the top two teams to compete at the final on January 06, 2026.

This series follows the Afghanistan National U19 team’s Asia Cup journey in the UAE and serves as an essential opportunity for the team to fine-tune their combination and gain competitive experience in preparation for the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026, which will be hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia.

ACB CEO Mr. Naseeb Khan stated, “We are closely monitoring the preparation of our team for the ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup 2026. With that in mind, we have arranged some strong assignments for the team in Bangladesh and India, which have led to significantly better results.”

“Despite the subpar performance in the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup, I am confident that the team will perform well in the World Cup. This upcoming Tri-Nation Series against Zimbabwe and Pakistan, held in Zimbabwe, will provide our team with an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in the conditions where the World Cup is being played. This will help them better prepare for the World Cup event,” he added.

Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) Managing Director Givemore Makoni confirmed the tri-series, saying it would provide critical competitive exposure for the country’s young players ahead of the World Cup. “This tri-series is a key part of our final preparations for the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup,” he said. “Playing against strong Under-19 teams like Afghanistan and Pakistan will give our players the quality match experience they need ahead of a major global event on home soil.”
