Kabul – July 15, 2026: The Yamin Ahmadzai-led Amo Sharks delivered a dominant all-round performance to defeat the Speenghar Tigers by 7 wickets in the Grand Finale and complete a hat-trick of SCL Titles.
The
tournament, which commenced on July 1 in Kabul, featured five regional teams
competing in a double round-robin format and concluded today with the Grand
Finale between the top two teams at Rahmat Wali Masroor Cricket Ground in Khost
province.
Earlier
in the day, Speenghar Tigers’ captain Speenghar Tigers won the toss and elected
to bat first. They lost two wickets in the first three balls and were later
reduced to 27/4 in 3.4 and then to 46/5 in 6.4 overs, but came back well after
a dismal start and managed to post 166/10 runs on the board in the first
inning. Ismat Alam (67) was the lone warrior for the Tigers, while Rashid Khan chipped in with a crucial 27-run knock. Fazal Haq Farooqi (2/31),
Gulbadin Naib (2/32), Qais Ahmad (2/16), and Abdullah Ahmadzai (2/41) stole the
show in the first inning, sharing the wickets among them.
The
Amo Sharks have made light work of the chase as they took the game home in 16.1
overs by 7 wickets to win their third successive SCL title. Imran Mir (77) and
Hassan Eisakhil (63*) top-scored for them with crucial half-centuries that
powered them to a commanding win in the final. Imran Mir, who provided an
incredible start to the Sharks in the second inning and scored an incredible
77-run knock that proved crucial in their title defence, was named the Player
of the Match in the Final.
Amo
Sharks’ talented middle-order batter Faisal Shinozada, who scored 161 runs at
40.25 with two half-centuries to his name, was awarded the Emerging Player of
the Tournament. Bost Defenders’ talented middle-order batter Akbar Musazai won
the Best Catch of the Tournament Award for his incredible one-handed catch at
the deep. Khalil Gurbaz, Mis-e-Ainak Knights’ talented and young right-arm
leg-spinner, picked 14 wickets in the tournament and was recognised as the best
bowler of the e& Shpageeza Cricket League 2026, powered by SuperCola.
Mis-e-Ainak Knights’ skipper Rahmanullah Gurbaz was adjudged as the best batter of the tournament for scoring 410 runs at 68.33 in the event. He was also awarded the Most Sixes of the Tournament award with 34 Sixes to his name. Ismat Alam, Speenghar Tigers’ talented all-rounder, scored 294 runs and also took 9 wickets and was awarded the best player of the tournament.

9th edition of the Ahmad Shah Abdali First Class Tournament in September 2026,
which will further promote the game of cricket in the country.
