In the ongoing Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Provincial Grade II Tournament, three matches were played today on day 17 in Nangarhar and Kandahar. In these fixtures, Khost B defeated Kabul A by 231 runs, Laghman overcame Nimroz by 117 runs, and Nangarhar A claimed a 105-run victory over Nuristan. It is worth noting that only one match will be played tomorrow in Nangarhar.
The first match of the day was
held at Kandahar Cricket Stadium, where Khost B beat Kabul E. Khost B had set a
formidable target of 339 runs. Their innings was led by Asghar Atal with 108
runs, Bilal Ahmad with 52, and Imran Dilpuri with 44. On the bowling side for
Kabul E, Musa Malakzai took 3 wickets, while Mohammad Arif claimed 2.
In response, Kabul E were bowled
out for just 107 runs, suffering a defeat by 231 runs. Their top scorers were
Hukamran Rehan with 37 runs and Zia Arman with 35. For Khost B, Ehsan Aman took
4 wickets, while Izatullah, Hashim Khan, and Haseebullah Lakanwal each took 2
wickets.
Khost B’s captain, Asghar Atal, was named Player of the Match for his century.
At the Quraishi Cricket Ground in
Kandahar, Laghman defeated Nimroz by 117 runs. Laghman batted first and, with a
superb 165-run inning from Imran Hasan and 124 runs from Farid Hakimani, set a
huge target of 340 runs. For Nimroz, Fazal Ahmad and Younus Khan Arman each
claimed 1 wicket.
Chasing the target, Nimroz scored
222 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their allotted 45 overs. Their top
scorers were Ainuddin Kakar with 102 runs, Noorullah Noori with 43, and Younus
Khan with 37. For Laghman, Asif Dilawar took 2 wickets.
Laghman’s batsman Imran Hasan was
named Player of the Match for his outstanding performance.
At the Ghazi Amanullah Khan
Cricket Stadium in Nangarhar, Nangarhar A defeated Nooristan. Batting first,
Nangarhar A set a solid target of 285 runs, supported by Salman Momand’s 106
runs, Usman Younus's 45, and Saheb's 42. For Nooristan, Kamal Barakzai
took 4 wickets, and Merajuddin claimed 3.
In reply, Nooristan were bowled
out for 179 runs. Their top contributors were Bakhtyar Mohammadi with 67 runs
and Ahmad Rahimi with 31. For Nangarhar A, Usman Younus took 3 wickets, and
Tahseen and Wali Khan claimed 2 wickets each.
Usman Hasan of Nangarhar A was awarded Player of the Match for his all-round
performance.
