Six matches took place on day six of the Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Grade II Provincial Tournament, currently underway across four provinces of the country where Maidan Wardak defeated Uruzgan, Takhar beat Kunduz A, Khost overcame Kabul, Badakhshan outplayed Jawzjan, Kabul A defeated Kandahar, and Samangan triumphed over Zabul.
At the Ghazi Amanullah Khan Cricket Ground in Nangarhar, Samangan defeated Zabul by 109 runs. Batting first, Samangan set a target of 184 runs, with Haseeb Afghan’s 45, Hameedullah’s 32, and Naseebullah’s 30 runs. For Zabul, Abdul Rafi took 3 wickets, while Sikandar and Musa Kaleem claimed 2 wickets each.
In response, Zabul were bowled out for only 74 runs, with Zarif Rizwan scoring a team-high 19 runs. For Samangan, Lais Lawang and Shawkat Khan took 3 wickets each, while Sharafat picked up 2. Samangan’s bowler Shawkat Khan was named Player of the Match.
At the Quraishi Cricket Ground in Kandahar, Kabul A defeated Kandahar by 98 runs. Kabul A batted first and set a target of 270 runs, powered by Sami Mamozai’s 82, Qudratullah’s 53, and Muslim Musa’s 77 runs. For Kandahar, Mohammad Afzal and Abdul Nasir took 2 wickets each.
Chasing the target, Kandahar were bowled out for 171 runs, with Naseebullah Popal scoring 73 and Mohammad Idris adding 35 runs. For Kabul A, Jalal took 3 wickets, while Muslim Musa, Noor Mohammad Kakar, and Sayed Khan claimed 2 wickets each. All-rounder Muslim Musa was named Player of the Match.
In Kunar, Badakhshan defeated Jawzjan by 70 runs. Batting first, Badakhshan set a strong target of 285 runs. Their top scorers were Mohabbatullah with 76, Aminullah with 78, and Fareed Zadran with 53. For Jawzjan, Javed Sayedi and Sayed Jalal took 2 wickets each.
Chasing the target, Jawzjan scored 214 runs for the loss of all wickets, with Subhan Ali scoring 59 and Nasrullah Turkman adding 33. For Badakhshan, Ehsan Zadran took 4 wickets, while Bilal Taniwal and Mohammad Shahid picked up 2 wickets each. Bowler Ehsan Zadran was named Player of the Match.
At the MIs-e-Ainak Cricket Ground in Khost, Takhar defeated Kunduz A by 7 wickets. Kunduz A had set a target of 293 runs, thanks to Salman Shinwari’s 127 and Ziauddin’s 72 runs. For Takhar, Noor Ali and Fareedullah claimed 2 wickets each.
Takhar successfully chased the target in the 44th over with 3 wickets down. Their top scorers were Sohail Ahmad Momand with 123, Ahmad Tarakhil with 80, and Wesal Oryakhail with 59 runs. For Kunduz A, Sharifullah Riaz took 2 wickets. Takhar’s batsman Sohail Ahmad Momand was named Player of the Match for his knock of 123 runs.
At the Kandahar Cricket Ground, Maidan Wardak defeated Uruzgan. Maidan Wardak batted first and set a target of 264 runs, led by Nasir Hashimi’s 105 and Hameed Wali’s 96 runs. For Uruzgan, Zainullah Haris took 3 wickets.
Uruzgan, in reply, scored 212 runs after playing all overs and lost by 51 runs. Their top scorers were Hikmatullah with 49, Qudratullah with 47, and Hazratullah with 28 runs. For Maidan Wardak, Hameed Hotak took 3 wickets. Team captain Nasir Hashimi was declared Player of the Match for scoring century.
At the Rahmat Wali Masroor Cricket Ground in Khost, the Khost team defeated Kabul by 4 wickets. Kabul set a target of 276 runs with Asadullah Danish scoring 79, Amir Zazai 68, Naqib Ehsas 55, and Folad 45 runs. For Khost, Abdul Bari and Nasir took one wicket each.
Khost successfully chased the target in the final over, losing 6 wickets. Their top scorers were Zabiullah with 78, Tahir Sarwari with 42, Allah Noor Rayan with 41, Shams Zadran with 37, and Nasir Ahmad with 36 runs. For Kabul, Amir Zazai and Rahmat Atal took 2 wickets each. Khost’s batsman Zabiullah was named Player of the Match.
In tomorrow’s matches of the tournament, Nangarhar will face Balkh at the Ghazi Amanullah Khan Cricket Ground in Nangarhar; Kunar will face Kabul C at the Kunar Cricket Ground; Uruzgan will play Farah at the Kandahar Cricket Ground; Kabul A will meet Maidan Wardak at the Quraishi Cricket Ground in Kandahar; Kabul will face Kunduz A at the Mis-Ainak Cricket Ground in Khost; and Kapisa will take on Takhar at the Rahmat Wali Masroor Cricket Ground in Khost.
