Kabul, March 24, 2026: The sixth edition of the Mirwais Neka Regional Three-Day Tournament is set to kick off on April 2. The event will feature five regional teams that will compete in a round-robin format across two venues in Kandahar and Helmand Provinces.
A total of ten
matches are scheduled throughout the tournament, running from April 2 to April
20. The participating teams, Mis-e-Ainak, Band-e-Amir, Amo, Bost, and Speen
Ghar, will face each other once during the round-robin stage. The Kandahar
National Cricket Ground and Helmand Cricket Ground will host five matches each.
The competition
features top-performing players from the recently concluded Provincial Grade I
tournament, as well as red-ball domestic contracted players. Additionally, it
includes players from the National U19 team that recently reached the
semi-finals of the ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup held in Namibia and
Zimbabwe. This tournament plays a crucial role in identifying new talent and
supporting the development of cricket in our country.
The Mirwais Neka
Regional three-day event is the third of several domestic tournaments planned
for the year and will be followed by multiple white and red-ball events during
the year.
