The Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Provincial Grade 1 Tournament, which began yesterday, saw two matches played today. In the first match, Nangarhar B defeated Kandahar A by 6 wickets, and in the second match, Nangarhar defeated Domestic XI-2 by 81 runs. This tournament is taking place in Nangarhar and Khost, where the best players will be selected for the List A and Mirwais Nikah three-day tournament.
The match between Nangarhar B and
Kandahar A, held at the Rahmat Wali Masroor cricket ground in Khost, saw
Nangarhar B win by 6 wickets. Nangarhar B won the toss and invited Kandahar A
to bat first.
Kandahar A, after losing all
their wickets, managed to score only 179 runs, setting a target of 180 runs. In
their batting, Bashir Ahmad scored 42, Ahmad Wali Sial made 39, and Imran
Mazari contributed 35 runs. On the bowling side for Nangarhar B, Ikram Momand
took 5 wickets, while Naseer Khan and Israr Shafiq took 2 wickets each.
In response, Nangarhar B
successfully chased the target in 39 overs, losing 4 wickets. The top scorers
for Nangarhar B were Jalal Musazai with 57, Abid Mohammadi with an unbeaten 51,
and Rohullah with 24 runs. On the bowling side for Kandahar A, Aziz Zadran was
the top wicket taker, claiming 2 wickets.

In the second match of the day,
which was played at the Najibullah Tarakai cricket ground in Nangarhar,
Nangarhar won by 81 runs against Domestic XI-2. Nangarhar batted first and set
a target of 280 runs in 43 overs.
In their batting, Mohammad
Shehzad Mohammadi scored 85, Allah Noor Naseri made 45, Irshad Safi contributed
42, and Akbar Musazai made 40 runs. On the bowling side for Domestic XI-2,
Mohammad Gul Alizai, Nematullah Sahak, and Hamid Hotak each took 2 wickets.
In reply, Domestic XI-2 only
scored 198 runs in 42.5 overs, losing all their wickets, and were defeated by
81 runs. The top scorers for Domestic XI-2 were Ali Ahmad Naseri with 64,
Ziauddin Sharifi with 34, and Qudratullah Kakar with 30 runs. On the bowling
side for Nangarhar, Usman Younis claimed 5 wickets, and Iqdamulhaq took 2
wickets.
