The Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Grade 1 Provincial T20 Tournament, which began on February 3 hosted by Kandahar and Nangarhar, has now reached its final stage, with Khost and Khost B teams advancing to the final match.
A total of 12 strong teams
participated in the tournament. In the semifinals, Khost defeated Domestic-XI 2
by 33 runs, while Khost-B beat Kabul-A by 11 runs to secure their spots in the
final.
Khost faced Domestic-XI 2 in the
first semifinal at Ghazi Amanullah Khan Cricket Ground in Nangarhar where Khost
batted first and set a target of 153 runs. Younis Zadran scored 40 runs and
Abdullah Mohammadi added 25. For Domestic-XI 2, Sayed Jalal Hashmi took 3
wickets, while Arab Gul and Mohammad Gul Alizai claimed 2 wickets each.
In response, Domestic-XI 2 managed
to score 119 runs, losing the match by 33 runs. Izat Farooqi scored 28 and
Ziauddin Sharifi made 26.
For Khost, Abdullah Mohammadi
took 4 wickets, Khalil Ahmad picked up 3, and Mohammad Ahmadzai claimed 2
wickets. Abdullah Mohammadi was named Player of the Match for his four-wicket
performance.
In the second semifinal at
Najibullah Tarakai Cricket Ground in Nangarhar, Khost-B faced Kabul A. Khost B
batted first and set a target of 153 runs in 20 overs. Saber Gurbaz scored 52
runs and Jamshed Khan contributed 33. For Kabul A, Sayed Khan took 2 wickets.
Chasing the target, Kabul-A
scored 141 runs after losing all their wickets, losing the match by 11 runs. The
captain Asif Moosazai scored 53 runs and Muslim Musa added 20.
For Khost-B, Haseebullah and
Hashim Khan took 2 wickets each. Saber Gurbaz was named Player of the Match for
his 52-run performance.
The final of the first edition of
Wazir Akbar Khan Grade 1 Provincial T20 Tournament will be played tomorrow at
11:00 AM at Najibullah Tarakai Cricket Ground in Nangarhar between Khost and
Khost B.
