The Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Grade II Provincial Tournament began today across four provinces of the country with the first day victories for Nangarhar, Kabul, Maidan Wardak, Khost, Kabul A, Balkh, and Nangarhar B teams. The tournament features 40 competent teams competing in eight groups. The top team from each group will qualify for the Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Grade I Provincial Tournament.
In the Ghazi Amanullah Khan
Stadium in Nangarhar, Zabul and Balkh teams faced off, where Balkh claimed
victory by 40 runs. Balkh set a target of 232 runs in 45 overs, led by Imran
Mazari with 103, Mohammad Bilal with 49, and Omid with 24 runs. For Zabul, Ahmad
Wali Sial took 3 wickets.
Zabul, in response, managed only
191 runs, losing by 40. Mohammad Younas top-scored with 33 runs. For Balkh,
Rahimullah took 3 wickets, while Anwar Nuri, Asadullah Matani, and Shafiullah
claimed 2 wickets each. Imran Mazari was named Player of the Match.
The second match in Nangarhar,
held at the Najeebullah Tarakai Stadium, where Nangarhar defeat Kabul B by 57
runs. Nangarhar set a target of 227 runs, with Jan Agha scoring 38 and Ilyas
Abrar 37. For Kabul B, Gul Mohammad, Mansoor, Enayatullah, and Hameed each took
2 wickets.
Kabul B, chasing the target,
scored 169 runs. Idris Niazi scored 41 and Zahid Sayedi made 51 runs. For
Nangarhar, Ebrahim and Iqdamulhaq took 3 wickets each, while Jamil Shinwari
claimed 2. Iqdamulhaq was awarded Player of the Match.
In Kandahar, Maidan Wardak
defeated Kandahar by 37 runs. Batting first, Maidan Wardak set a target of 266
runs, with Mohammad Hanif scoring 76, Nasir Ahmad 40, and Subhanullah 38. For
Kandahar, Taj Mohammad took 3 wickets, while Nematullah and Mohammad Afzal took
2 wickets each.
Kandahar, in reply, scored 228
runs. Naseebullah Popal scored 50, Hikmatullah 60, and Zahir Pathan 32 runs.
For Wardak, Hameed Hotak took 3 wickets while Irfan Khan took 2 wickets.
In Khost, Kabul defeated Kapisa
by 64 runs. Kabul set a target of 253 runs, driven by Shakir Musa Zai’s 54 and
Enayatullah Malik’s 47. For Kapisa, Zahid took 3 wickets, and Saboor and Tariq
Safi took 2 wickets each.
Kapisa, in response, scored 188
runs, with Islam Zazai scoring 85 and Mohammad Imran 36. For Kabul, Rahmatullah
Atal took 4 wickets, Ziarmal 3, and Amir Zazai 2. Rahmat Atal was named Player
of the Match.
In Kunar, Nangarhar B defeated
Kunar by a significant margin of 116 runs. Nangarhar B set a target of 283
runs, with Najib Qazi Khail scoring 56 and Dil Agha scoring 44. For Kunar,
Tariq took 4 and Ihsanullah took 2 wickets.
Kunar scored 166 runs in reply,
with Zubair Khan scoring 42 and Hanif Kunari 23. For Nangarhar B, Usman Sherzad
took 3 wickets, while Faheem Qasemi and Naveed Safi claimed 2 wickets each.
Usman Sherzad was awarded Player of the Match.
At the Rahmat Wali Masroor
Stadium in Khost, Khost defeated Kunduz A by a huge margin of 167 runs. Khost
set a massive target of 363 runs, powered by Tahir Sarwari’s 168 and Naser
Ahmad’s 86 runs. For Kunduz A, Sharifullah took 4 and Saboor Bahrami took 2
wickets.
Kunduz A scored 195 runs in their
innings, with Umar Ahmadzai scoring 56 and Ikram Sadiq 36. For Khost, Abdul
Bari took 3 wickets and Mohibullah took 2. Tahir Sarwari was named Player of
the Match.
At the Quraishi Stadium in
Kandahar, Kabul A defeated Farah by 58 runs. Kabul A set a target of 299 runs, with
Sami Musa Zai’s 158 and Mubarak Khan’s 51 runs. For Farah, Azizullah, Ehsan,
and Izzatullah took 1 wicket each.
Farah, chasing the target, scored
240 runs, with Hayatullah scoring 52, Basheer Ahmad 53, and Mohammad Qasim 36
runs. For Kabul A, Rahmatullah and Jalal Khan took 2 wickets each. Sami Musazai
was named Player of the Match.
