According to Afghanistan’s
domestic cricket calendar, the Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Grade 1 Provincial
Tournament, which is currently underway in Khost and Nangarhar provinces,
continued today with two matches. In today’s fixtures, Paktika defeated
Kandahar-A by 4 wickets, while Domestic-XI 2 beat Chairman-XI by 5 wickets.
In the first match of the day,
played at the Rahmat Wali Masroor Cricket Ground in Khost, Paktika secured a
4-wicket victory over Kandahar-A. Kandahar-A batted first and, after losing all
their wickets, set a target of 238 runs.
For Kandahar-A, captain Numan
Shah scored 107 runs, while Bilal Ahmad and Jalal Ahmad contributed 32 runs
each. In response, Paktika’s bowlers Mohibullah Zurmatai, Mohammad Alam, and
Kamran Mukhlis each claimed three wickets.
Paktika successfully chased the
target in the 44th over. In their batting lineup, Abdul Majid scored 77 runs, Karamatullah
remained unbeaten on 76, and Salim Zurmatai added 40 runs. For Kandahar-A, Azim
Zadran took 3 wickets, while Sami Sarmast claimed 2 wickets.
Paktika batter Karamatullah was
named Player of the Match for his unbeaten 76 runs.
In the second match, played at
the Najibullah Tarakai Cricket Ground in Nangarhar between Domestic-XI 2 and
Chairman-XI, Domestic-XI 2 emerged victorious. Chairman-XI batted first and
were bowled out for 122 runs, setting a target of 123.
For Chairman-XI, Izat Barakzai
scored 37 runs, Abdul Jabbar Saqib made 36, and Mohibullah Hamraz contributed
22 runs. On the bowling side, Majboor Kharotai and Aqeel Khan each took 3
wickets, while Hamid Hotak picked up 2 wickets for Domestic-XI 2.
Domestic-XI 2 chased down the
target in 26 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process. Ali Ahmad Naser scored 52
runs, while Zafar Alawzi added 47 runs. For Chairman-XI, Omidullah took 2
wickets.
Domestic-XI 2 bowler Majboor
Kharoti was named Player of the Match after taking 3 crucial wickets for just 22
runs.
It is worth noting that the Wazir
Mohammad Akbar Khan Grade 1 Provincial Tournament will continue tomorrow with
only one fixture, to be played at the Najibullah Tarakai Cricket Ground in
Nangarhar between Kabul-A and Khost-B.
