Kabul – November 19, 2025: AfghanAbdalyan went past Hong Kong, China, by 24 runs in their last Group B match at the ACC Men’s Rising Stars Asia Cup 2025.
AfghanAbdalyan were put into bat
first, and they have put up a decent batting performance to put 140/6 runs on
the board in the first inning. Mohammad Ishaq (38), Rahmanullah Zadran (24),
Farmanullah Safi (23*), and Imran Mir (20) chipped in with important runs each.
In defense, Hong Kong, China,
started well and posed significant challenges for AfghanAbdalyan at times, when
they reached 68/1 after 11 overs. Qais Ahmad came in and picked up three
wickets in his first over to get Afghanistan back in the game.
Qais’s game-changing over opened
the door for Afghan bowlers, who kept striking on regular intervals and reduced
the opposition to 116/9 at the end of 20 overs to win the game by 24 runs.
Qais Ahmad (3/18), Bilal Sami
(2/23), and Faridoon Dawoodzai (2/21), AM Ghazanfar (1/10), and Farmanullah
Safi (1/19) shared important wickets among them to take Afghanistan over the
line.
Qais Ahmad turned the match on
its head and grabbed the Player of the Match with a terrific bowling
performance.
AfghanAbdalyan have won two games
out of the three matches they have played in Group B, and the qualification to
the Semi-Finals of the event depends on the outcome of the last Group B match
between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh later tonight.
