Kabul, Afghanistan — 1 December 2025: The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) and the Cricket Federation of Uzbekistan (CFU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation and strengthen cricket development between the two nations.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by:

-        Mr. Naseeb Khan, CEO, Afghanistan Cricket Board

-        Dr. Khalid Hatam, Board Member, Afghanistan Cricket Board

-        Mr. Aziz Mihliev, Chairman of CFU

-        Mr. Fazliddin Ibodullaev, CEO of CFU

Scope of Cooperation

Under this agreement, ACB will provide Uzbekistan with comprehensive cricket development support—including coaching education, umpiring and officiating training, S&C and physiotherapy programs, video analysis, talent identification, technical courses, and development camps led by elite Afghan coaches. ACB will also assist Uzbek coaches through ICC tutor pathways and invite Uzbek players to train at the ACB High-Performance Center in Kabul.

In addition to the above areas of support, Afghanistan’s A team, Domestic Champion team, and U19 team will also feature in bilateral fixtures organized by the CFU in Uzbekistan, helping provide the competitive exposure necessary for the CFU’s on-field cricket development. This two-way cooperation is expected to significantly strengthen relations between the two nations and deepen regional cricket ties.

ACB reaffirmed its commitment to supporting emerging cricket nations such as Uzbekistan and expressed readiness to extend similar support to other nations seeking to grow the sport. ACB also highlighted its willingness to share its lessons learned, management experience, and successful approaches that contributed to Afghanistan’s rapid rise in global cricket.

Mr. Naseeb Khan, CEO of ACB, said: “We welcome this partnership with CFU. ACB is committed to supporting emerging cricket nations with the same dedication that accelerated our own growth, and we look forward to sharing our technical expertise and experience.”

Similarly, Dr. Khalid Hatam, ACB Board Member, stated: “This MoU strengthens our regional cricket ties and creates new pathways in coaching, player development, and technical growth. We are pleased to share our journey and support CFU’s cricketing aspirations.”

Mr. Aziz Mihliev, Chairman of CFU, added, “CFU is pleased to partner with ACB. Their accumulated experience from building competitive structures to nurturing elite talent will be invaluable as we strengthen our cricketing foundation and elevate the development of our players and coaches.”

Mr. Fazliddin Ibodullaev, CEO of CFU, further added: “ACB’s rapid rise to the Full Member pathway is a compelling model for emerging cricket nations, and one that CFU is closely studying. This partnership gives us a unique opportunity to learn from a proven, accelerated growth trajectory. We are confident that with shared expertise, disciplined planning, and regional collaboration, CFU can chart a similarly ambitious path forward.”
