Nangarhar – May 17, 2026: The Band-e-Amir Region, banking on an incredible all-round performance, edged past the Mis-e-Ainak Region by just 6 runs after a hard-fought opening game of the e& National T20 Cup 2026, powered by SuperCola.

Earlier on the opening morning, the Band-e-Amir Region won the toss and opted to bat first. Ijaz Ahmadzai (75), Noor Rahman (53) and Hassan Eisakhil (50) scored half-centuries. In contrast, Sediqullah Atal (39), Shams Ur Rahman (36) and Farmanullah Safi (36) chipped in with crucial runs as the Band-e-Amir Region posted 331/9 runs on the board in the first inning.

Mohammad Younus (3/73), Riaz Hassan (2/19), Abdullah Tarakhil (2/44), Khair Mohammad (1/47) and Zia Ur Rahman Sharifi (1/72) shared the wickets among them.

In reply, the skipper, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, stepped up for his team and scored an incredible 88-run knock. He was followed by Rahmanullah Zadran, who stood tall big time and brought up a fantastic hundred against the Band-e-Amir Region. His younger brother, Mohammad Younus, backed up his impressive bowling with some outstanding batting as well, by scoring a valuable 48 runs.

But all these efforts went in vain as the Band-e-Amir Region bowlers held their nerves to restrict the Mis-e-Ainak Region and win the game by 6 runs. Khalil Ahmad (2/50), Shams Ur Rahman (2/56), Faridoon Dawoodzai (2/56) and Nangyal Kharoti (2/57) returned with two wickets each and helped the Band-e-Amir Region cross the winning line.

Ijaz Ahmadzai was awarded the Player of the Match for his outstanding batting display in the first inning.

Day 2 of the competitions will see the Amo Region face the Bost Region in what would be an exciting game of cricket.
