Two matches were played today in the ongoing Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Grade 1 Provincial Tournament. In the first match, Nangarhar-B defeated Paktika by 41 runs, while in the second match, Domestic-XI 2 beat Kabul-A by 4 wickets.
It is worth mentioning that Nangarhar,
Domestic-XI, Nangarhar-B, and Domestic-XI 2 have qualified for the semifinals
of the Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Grade 1 Provincial Tournament.
The match between Nangarhar-B and Paktika, played
at Rahmat Wali Masroor Cricket Stadium in Khost, saw Nangarhar-B secure a
41-run victory. Batting first, Nangarhar-B set a target of 274 runs in 45
overs. In their batting lineup, Shawkat Zaman scored 67 runs, Jalat Musazai
made 55, and Najib Qazikhail contributed 53 runs. For Paktika, Azizullah
claimed 3 wickets, while Kamran Mukhlis picked up 2 in their bowling line up.
In reply, Paktika were bowled out for 232 runs.
Abdul Majid scored an unbeaten 83, Bilal Hasnain made 51, and Inayatullah added
31 runs. For Nangarhar-B, Faheem Qasimi took 4 wickets, while Ikram Momand and
Abid Mohammadi claimed 2 wickets each.
Nangarhar-B bowler Faheem Qasimi was named Player
of the Match for taking 4 crucial wickets while conceding 51 runs.
The second match, played at Najibullah Tarakai
Cricket Stadium in Nangarhar, saw Domestic-XI 2 defeat Kabul-A by 4 wickets.
Kabul-A were bowled out for 155 runs, with Muslim Musa scoring 54 and Hamid
Hotak adding 26 runs. For Domestic-XI 2, Mohammad Gul Alizai took 4 wickets,
Majboor Kharoti claimed 3, and Nematullah Sahak picked up 2.
Domestic-XI 2 chased the target successfully in
the 25th over, losing 6 wickets. Javed Sulaimankhail remained unbeaten on 52
runs, while Sohrab Amiri contributed 24 runs. For Kabul-A, Qamar Shams took 3
wickets.
Mohammad Gul Alizai of Domestic-XI 2 was named
Player of the Match for his impressive spell of 4 wickets.
The Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Grade 1 Provincial
Tournament began on January 5 in Khost and Nangarhar, featuring 12 teams
divided into two groups. In Group B, played in Khost, Domestic-XI and
Nangarhar-B finished first and second to qualify for the semifinals. Meanwhile,
in Group A, whose final match will be played tomorrow in Nangarhar, Nangarhar
and Domestic-XI 2 have also advanced to the semifinals.
It is worth noting that tomorrow, as the
tournament concludes, Logar will face Khost-B at Najibullah Tarakai Cricket Stadium
in Nangarhar.
