As part of the Afghanistan Cricket Board’s domestic cricket calendar, the Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Grade 1 Provincial Tournament, currently underway in Nangarhar and Khost provinces, continued today with two matches. Kabul-A defeated Logar by 7 wickets, while Paktika overcame ACB-XI by 6 wickets. The talented performers from the Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Grade 1 Provincial Tournament will progress to the List A and Mirwais Nika Three-Day tournaments.
The first match of the day was
played at the Rahmat Wali Masroor Cricket Ground in Khost, where Paktika
emerged victorious. Paktika won the toss and elected to bowl first. ACB-XI
posted a target of 286 runs in the allotted 43 overs. In their batting innings,
Rahat Andar scored 74 runs, Subhan Ali and Ejaz-ul-Haq Noorzi each made 66,
while Nasrullah Turkman contributed 49 runs. For Paktika, Mohammad Alam Khan
claimed 3 wickets and Inayatullah took 2 wickets.
Paktika chased down the target in
the 40th over. Karamatullah remained unbeaten on 109 runs, Sher Khan Bahadur
scored 87, while Saifullah and Abdul Majid added 31 runs each. For ACB-XI,
Amanullah Kunari picked up 2 wickets.
Paktika batter Karamatullah was
named Player of the Match for his unbeaten 109-run innings.
The second match of the day was
held at the Najibullah Tarakai Cricket Ground in Nangarhar, where Kabul-A
defeated Logar. Logar won the toss and chose to bat first.
Logar was bowled out for 159 runs
in the 41st over, setting a target of 160 runs. In their batting lineup, Saber
Hanif scored 50 runs and Khalid Zahidi added 31. For Kabul A, bowlers Sayed
Khan and Jalal took 3 wickets each, while Irfanullah Safi claimed 2 wickets.
Kabul-A successfully chased the
target in the 34th over, losing only 3 wickets. Sami Mamoozi scored 66 runs,
Mohammad Haroon made 46, and Asif Mousa Zai remained unbeaten on 29 runs. For
Logar, Mohammadullah Logari took 2 wickets.
Kabul-A bowler Sayed Khan was
named Player of the Match for his three crucial wickets.
It is worth noting that the Wazir
Mohammad Akbar Khan Grade 1 Provincial Tournament will continue tomorrow
morning, with Chairman-XI facing Khost B at the Najibullah Tarakai Cricket
Ground in Nangarhar, while Khost will take on Nangarhar-B at the Rahmat Wali
Masroor Cricket Ground in Khost.
