The Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Provincial Grade 1 Tournament began today in Khost with the first match between the Khost team and Domestic XI team of group B in Rahmat Wali Masroor Cricket Ground in Khost Province where host team Khost beat Domestic XI by 21 runs.

Provincial Grade 1 Tournament, held annually, serve as a platform for talented
young players from various regions of the country to rise through the ranks of
domestic cricket, eventually progressing to mega tournaments such as the List
A, National T20, and the Mirwais Nikah three-day tournament. The Group A
matches of this tournament will start tomorrow in Nangarhar.
Today's match between Khost and
the Domestic XI was held at the Rahmat Wali Masrur ground in Khost. Due to the humidity
on the field, the game was reduced to 42 overs. Domestic XI won the toss and
opted to bat first against Khost in the first match of the event.
In difficult morning conditions,
the Khost team managed to bat well, setting a target of 258 runs. Nasir Ahmad
scored 73, Abdullah Abid made 67, Saif Nangyal contributed 32, and Nawid Ubaid
added 27 runs. On the bowling side for the Domestic XI, Mohammad Nabi Miakhel
took 5 wickets, and Kamal Kakar claimed 2 wickets.
In response, the Domestic XI team
managed to score 230 runs in 42 overs but lost 8 wickets, thus falling short by
27 runs. Islam Zazi top-scored for them with 66, Mohammad Riyaz made 45, Abdul
Hadi contributed 42, and Javed Ahmadzai scored 22 runs. Meanwhile, in Khost’s
bowling attack, Habibullah Tannaiwal took 3 wickets, and Younus Zadran claimed
2 wickets.

Younus Zadran was named the player of the match for his 27 unbeaten runs and 2
wickets.
It is worth noting that tomorrow’s
matches of the Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Provincial Grade 1 Tournament will
take place tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM. The Khost Rahmat Wali Masrur ground
will host the match between Kandahar A and Nangarhar B, while Nangarhar will
face the Domestic XI-2 team at the Najibullah Tarakai ground in Nangarhar.
