In the ongoing Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Grade 1 Provincial Tournament, two matches were played today in which Khost defeated Kandahar-A by 127 runs, while Logar defeated the Chairman-XI by 8 runs. A total of 12 teams is participating in the tournament, from which the top four teams will qualify for the semifinals.
The match between Logar and Chairman-XI
was played at the Najibullah Tarakai Cricket Ground in Nangarhar. Logar was
bowled out for 181 runs. In their batting, Izat Noor scored 80 runs and
Mohammad Amin added 30 runs. For Chairman-XI, Asadullah Matani and Mohammad Ali
took 3 wickets each, while Rahimullah claimed 2 wickets.
In reply, Chairman-XI were all
out for 172 runs, losing the match by 8 runs. Ejaz Ahmad scored 37 runs, Aftab
Alam made 34, and Fazal Usman contributed 30 runs. For Logar, Mohammad Dawood
took 5 wickets and Mohammadullah picked up 2 wickets.
Logar bowler Mohammad Dawood was
named Player of the Match for his outstanding performance, claiming 5 crucial
wickets.
In the second match at the Rahmat
Wali Masroor Cricket Ground in Khost, the Khost team defeated Kandahar-A by 127
runs. Khost set a target of 238 runs, with Nasir Ahmad scoring 78, Saif Nangyal
adding 38, and Naqib Ehsas contributing 37 runs. For Kandahar-A, Abdul Baqi
Popal and Sami Sarmast took 3 wickets each.
Chasing the target, Kandahar-A
were bowled out for just 110 runs, losing by 127 runs. In their batting, Numan
Shah scored 27 runs and Bilal Ahmad added 26 runs. For Khost, Shafiullah Khan
took 5 wickets, Mohammad Ahmadzai claimed 3, and Abdullah Mohammadi picked up 2
wickets.
At the end of the match, Khost
bowler Shafiullah Khan was named Player of the Match after taking 5 wickets.
It is worth noting that as the
tournament continues tomorrow, Kabul-A will face Nangarhar at the Najibullah
Tarakai Cricket Ground in Nangarhar, while Domestic-XI will take on Nangarhar-B
at the Rahmat Wali Masroor Cricket Ground in Khost.
