The e& Mirwais Nika Three-Day Tournament powered by Super Cola commenced in Kandahar and Helmand provinces as per Afghanistan Domestic Cricket Calendar with the first two matches ending in draw due to rain interruptions.
The opening match, held at
Kandahar Cricket Ground between Amo and Bost regional teams, ended in a draw on
its final day. Similarly, the match between Band-e-Amir and Mis-e-Ainak regional
teams at Helmand Cricket Ground also finished in a draw.
The first match between Amo and
Bost, which began on Sunday, was largely affected by rain and ultimately ended in
a draw.
After winning the toss, Bost elected
to bat first and were bowled out for 190 runs on the opening day. Zaitullah
Shaheen scored 50 runs, while Bilal Ahmad Tarin added 41. For Amo, Salam Khan
delivered an outstanding bowling performance, taking 5 wickets. Rohullah Arab
claimed 3 wickets, and Majboor Kharoti picked up 2.
In response, Amo produced a
strong batting display, scoring 259 runs to take a 69-run lead. Javed Ahmadi
was the top scorer with 92 runs, supported by Ejaz Ahmad (45) and Usman Younis
(28). For Bost, Nasrat Nooristani and Jalal Stanikzai each took 3 wickets,
while Zaitullah Shaheen secured 2.
The second day was completely
washed out so due to persistent rain, only two innings were completed, and the
match was declared a draw. Salam Khan was named Player of the Match for his
five-wicket haul.
Despite weather disruptions, the
match between Band-e-Amir and Mis-e-Ainak saw notable performances from both
sides.
Band-e-Amir won the toss and
chose to bat first, scoring 290 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 90 overs.
Usman Sadat scored 90 runs, Mohammad Riaz added 76, and Izzat Noor contributed
65. For Mis-e-Ainak, Naseem Mangal and Shafiullah each took one wicket.
In reply, Mis-e-Ainak delivered
an impressive batting performance, scoring 376 runs and taking an 86-run lead.
Emal Shaheen scored the first century of the tournament with 106 runs. Other
contributions came from Asghar Atal (66), Mubeen Bakhtiar (55), and Younis
Zadran (54). For Band-e-Amir, Sayed Ahmad Sherzad and Naseer Khan each claimed
3 wickets.
In their second innings,
Band-e-Amir scored 280 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Khalid Ahmadzai (79),
Mohammad Riaz (60), Usman Khan (55), and Sohail Khan (42) were the key
contributors. Younis Zadran took 3 wickets for Mis-e-Ainak.
The match ended in a draw at the
conclusion of the third day. Emal Shaheen was named Player of the Match for his
century.
As part of the tournament
schedule, Amo will face Mis-e-Ainak on Thursday at Helmand Cricket Ground,
while Bost will take on Speenghar at Kandahar Cricket Ground.
