Kabul: November 19, 2025 – The 17th edition of the Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Provincial Grade II Tournament is set to begin on November 23. This tournament features 40 provincial teams divided into 8 groups, and matches will be held across seven venues in the Khost, Nangarhar, Kunar, and Kandahar provinces.
The tournament will follow a one-day format, with a total of 80 matches
scheduled to take place over 20 days, from November 23 to December 12. The 40
participating teams will be organised into 8 groups, each consisting of five
teams.
Group A includes: Balkh, Zabul, Nangarhar B, Kabul B, and Samangan provinces.
Group B consists of: Kunar, Nangarhar B, Jozjan, Kabul C, and Badakhshan.
Group C features: Kandahar, Maidan Wardak, Kabul A, Farah, and Oruzgan.
Group D has: Khost, Kunduz A, Kabul, Kapisa, and Takhar.
Group E includes: Khost A, Baghlan, Logar, Parwan, and Faryab.
Group F features: Nangarhar A, Paktika, Kunduz, Nooristan, and Sar E Pul.
Group G is made up of: Kandahar A, Paktia, Kabul D, Helmand, and Ghazni.
Group H comprises: Laghman, Herat, Khost B, Nimroz, and Kabul E.
Each team will compete once against every other team in their
respective group. The teams with the most points in each group will proceed to
the Provincial Grade One Tournament, a premier provincial one-day event
organised by the Afghanistan Cricket Board, which will take place after the
conclusion of the Grade II tournament.
The Tournament features 600 players and serves as a terrific platform
for the youngsters to compete at the provincial level, gain valuable insights,
and enhance their skills.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board is dedicated to promoting the game
